Top recruits at LCA Friday

Friday night’s LCA-Christchurch game is worth checking out if you want to see a couple of kids who will be playing big-time football on Saturdays in the future.

There are plenty of subplots in this game, including the little matter of LCA trying to beat the team that snapped its 34-game winning streak last year. But college football fans will want to flock to Liberty’s Williams Stadium to see Christchurch’s Deion Walker and LCA’s Bobby Massie.

Massie, an offensive lineman, has drawn interest from SEC and ACC schools. Walker, a receiver, has scholarship offers from 14 Division I FBS schools, including Virginia, Notre Dame, USC and Florida. Both players are special talents.

As for the game itself, Christchurch beat the Bulldogs 10-7 in the state playoffs at Williams Stadium a year ago. This is definitely a game I’m looking forward to covering.

  1. The game you should also cover is VES at Woodberry. VES has rebuilt its program over the last four years and now is taking on its former prep league rival for the first time in 17 years. The Bishops have had four winning seasons in a row and have produced a number of quality players at the college level, and they had the area’s leading receiver and passer returning this year. They deserve more coverage than you have given them – which on your webpage has been zero.
